Difference & Origins

You might come across keno and bingo when searching for casino games. Both offer the player online and offline enjoyment and have very simple rules. You might think both are similar, but there are definitely some differences between them. Let’s have a quick look at their backgrounds.  Cheung Leung invented keno during the Han Dynasty. It’s one of the oldest gambling games in the world, that started 3,000 years ago in China.

The game’s creation was due to the following reasons:

  • Raise funds for the war
  • Prevention to raise public taxes

Since then, Keno became extremely popular and is called the white pigeon game. Named after the birds that were sent to fly winning numbers across the countryside. Meanwhile, Bingo started in Italy in 1530. From Italy, Bingo came to France during the 1770s.

The French called it Le Lotto; wealthy Frenchmen often played that. During the 1800s, the Germans played a version of Bingo. But, they used it in the education of children. Today, Bingo, like Keno, is still played by millions of players in different parts of the world.

Both games are played by using numbers, which the player must guess correct. One of the significant differences is that Bingo doesn’t provide you the option to select your preferred numbers but to choose cards. You can’t control the number of bets and numbers. With Keno, the player must select 20 numbers. You are free to decide which ones you like to include on your bets. Also, players can determine how much they want to wager.

Like the lottery, Keno’s aim requires you to gamble on the numbers you’ve selected. Then you need to wage 1 to 20 numbers, and 20 players must guess numbers. You can still win small amounts of money if you bet on a few numbers. The number of prizes depends on the place where you’re playing.

When it comes to Bingo, you can play different variations of the game. Examples of the different varieties are 90-ball, 80-ball and lots more. Your objective depends on the version of Bingo that you would play. As the numbers called, you have to cover your card.

Jackpot prizes are awarded to the player who completes their card.  Meanwhile, other prizes offered to the other players. But, there are other instances where another player might shout Bingo. In this case, the host would examine the card of the player to see if the card is correct.

Since both Bingo and Keno are casino games, you would expect that both require you to place your bets. Well, that’s not the case when you’re playing Bingo. You must buy cards and become the first player to complete it. You have the advantage to win if you buy several cards rather than just using one.

When it comes to Keno, you’re allowed to control how many bets you like or how many times you would place it the game. You can choose from two types of bets such as the way and straight.  If you want straight stakes, you have to select your numbers and place the minimum wage on it.

In way betting, your selected numbers must divide into different sets. You will win if all the numbers you picked are present. Now that you know a little about the differences, it is up to you. Whether it’s Bingo or Keno, you will be entertained for hours.
